Parking and mounting spot
Confirm exactly where the charger will be mounted — most installs use a small footprint on a garage or exterior wall.
Make sure the parking spot is clear on the day. The installer will need to test-fit the cable to your car.
If the mount is on a shared wall (townhouse, duplex), let your neighbour know.
Cable route and access
Walk the path from switchboard to charger and note any obstacles: locked meter boxes, plaster ceilings, brick walls, wall cavities.
For long runs, decide whether surface conduit is acceptable or whether you want it chased into the wall.
Move stored items away from the switchboard so the installer can safely open it.
WiFi and app setup
If your charger has an app (Tesla, Wallbox, Zappi), have your WiFi password handy and make sure the signal reaches the mounting spot.
A WiFi range extender in the garage is usually a $50 fix if the signal is weak.
