Option 1: Portable EVSE from a standard power point
Every EV sold in Australia comes with a portable charger that plugs into a normal 10 A or 15 A outlet.
Slow — around 10–15 km of range per hour on a 10 A socket. Fine if you drive under 40 km a day.
No install needed. If a 15 A outlet is available at your parking spot, that's meaningfully faster.
Option 2: Proper wall charger with landlord approval
Approach your landlord in writing. Emphasise that a professionally installed EV charger adds value to the property.
Offer to pay for the install yourself. Many landlords say yes when they know the work is done to AS/NZS 3000 by a licensed installer.
Ask your installer to quote both the install and the removal cost, in case you want to take it with you.
Option 3: Portable wall-mounted chargers
Some chargers can be unplugged from a hard-wired outlet and moved to a new home.
This still needs a licensed installer to fit the outlet, but you keep the charger unit when you move.
